To celebrate the 270th anniversary of the De Gruyter publishing house, the company is providing permanent open access to 270 selected treasures from the De Gruyter Book Archive. Titles will be made available to anyone, anywhere at any time that might be interested. The DGBA project seeks to digitize the entire backlist of titles published since 1749 to ensure that future generations have digital access to the high-quality primary sources that De Gruyter has published over the centuries.

Le collège de Sorbonne a été créé en 1257 à Paris sous les auspices des pouvoirs royaux et pontificaux. Parmi les collèges séculiers, il innove en se dotant de bâtiments et de revenus réguliers et en accentuant sa vocation intellectuelle, dont la bibliothèque est le dispositif principal. Elle renferme plus de 1 000 volumes à la fin du xiiie siècle et est organisée en deux dépôts, l'un destiné à la consultation sur place, l'autre au prêt, pour répondre aux besoins des sociétaires, des étudiants et des maîtres. Cet ouvrage s'attache à étudier les livres du collège, de leur acquisition par les maîtres jusqu'à leur entrée dans l'établissement. Il analyse leur circulation au sein des divers dépôts et leurs usages par les sorbonistes ou par des lecteurs étrangers. Il éclaire les relations du collège avec son environnement institutionnel et social, et l'influence culturelle exercée par la bibliothèque du Moyen Âge à la Renaissance. Deux instrumenta complètent cette publication : un guide codicologique sur les manuscrits du collège et une bibliographie exhaustive des travaux portant sur sa bibliothèque. Mobilisant plusieurs disciplines (histoire, littérature, sociologie et philosophie), ce livre offre les premiers jalons d'une histoire renouvelée des bibliothèques universitaires.

Il comitato redazionale della rivista incoraggia gli autori (studenti, ricercatori, bibliotecari, archivisti) a contribuire con scritti (papers) innovativi ed interdisciplinari ed ad utilizzare JLIS come uno spazio virtuale per l”elaborazione teorica sulle radicali trasformazioni introdotte dalle innovazioni della cultura digitale. JLIS è pubblicato due volte all’anno in giugno e dicembre.

Globalizing the Library focuses on the globalization of information and the library in the period following the Second World War. Providing an examination of the ideas and aspirations surrounding information and the library, as well as the actual practices and actions of information professionals from the United States, Britain, and those working with organizations such as Unesco to develop library services, this book tells an important story about international history that also provides insight into the history of information, globalization, and cultural relations. Exploring efforts to help build library services and train a cohort of professional librarians around the globe, the book examines countries in Asia, Africa, and the Pacific during the period of the Cold War and decolonization.
